Pueblo Housing Eras and What Door Fits
Pueblo spans roughly 140 years of housing, and the garage changes completely across it.
Pre-1940 - Bessemer, Mesa Junction, South Side
Detached, alley-accessed, single width, often under eight feet wide. Non-stock sizing is normal and wooden jambs have moved. Framing frequently will not carry a modern insulated door without reinforcement.
1940 to 1960 - Highland Park, Sunset Park, Aberdeen
Attached garages appear, single width and shallow. Standard widths but frequently non-standard heights.
1960 to 1980 - Belmont, University Park
Attached two-car becomes normal. Fifty years of slab movement means track plumb is the recurring issue.
1980 onward - Regency Park, north side
Two and three-car attached with builder-grade doors and springs, now at or past their rated cycle count.
Pueblo West
A category of its own. Detached shops and oversized outbuilding doors on generous lots, frequently non-standard in both size and weight.
